Lee Min Ki On Why He Chose To Star In "Face Me," His Character, And A Memorable Moment From The Drama
Lee Min Ki has shared his thoughts on his upcoming drama “Face Me”!
“Face Me” is a KBS mystery thriller that follows the unlikely partnership between cold plastic surgeon Cha Jeong Woo (Lee Min Ki) and passionate detective Lee Min Hyeong (Han Ji Hyun), who team up to solve crimes by utilizing reconstructive surgeries for the victims.
Lee Min Ki will star as the elite plastic surgeon Cha Jeong Woo, who avoids emotional connections with patients and concentrates solely on his work. He offers no lip service and won’t even hold the hand of a nervous patient. His decision to become a plastic surgeon and his mindset are shaped by a painful past that left lasting scars.
Explaining why he chose the role, Lee Min Ki said, “Playing a plastic surgeon was a new experience for me. I was also intrigued by the different stories that unfold through reconstructive surgery for crime victims.”
The actor described Cha Jeong Woo as a talented plastic surgeon who has emotionally shut himself off because of a past event. He remarked, “One of my co-stars has a line that goes, ‘He seemed like someone who had decided not to be happy.’ I believe that line perfectly captures Jeong Woo’s inner self.”
As for how he prepared to play a plastic surgeon, Lee Min Ki said, “Since I had to film several surgery scenes, I focused on learning and practicing the necessary skills.”
When asked how closely he identifies with the character of Cha Jeong Woo, the actor replied, “I focused on Jeong Woo’s inner self. I sometimes find it hard to emotionally communicate with people, so I think Jeong Woo’s tendency to distance himself from patients and others is similar to me.”
Lee Min Ki also recalled a memorable moment from Episode 1 when Jeong Woo tells a dating violence victim, “Change ultimately comes from within.” He said, “This line also applies to Jeong Woo himself, so it stood out to me.”
In closing, Lee Min Ki concluded, “I’ll be greeting you soon through ‘Face Me.’ I’m excited to see how this new role and fresh story will resonate with viewers. Please keep an eye out for it.”
“Face Me” will premiere on November 6 at 9:50 p.m. KST, following the conclusion of KBS2’s currently airing drama “Dog Knows Everything.”
