Based on a popular webtoon, “Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born” is a new drama set in the 1950s, shortly after the Korean War. Kim Tae Ri stars as the titular Jeong Nyeon, a young vocal prodigy who dreams of becoming a top traditional theater actor.

At the end of the second episode of “Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born,” Jeong Nyeon found herself facing a difficult decision. Moon Ok Kyung (Jung Eun Chae) offered her a copy of the official audition script, leaving viewers wondering whether Jeong Nyeon would accept Ok Kyung’s tempting offer to go the easy route.
In newly released stills from the drama’s third episode, Jeong Nyeon enthralls an impromptu audience of passersby at a marketplace with a lively performance. All dressed up in the proper attire, the aspiring singer performs an exciting mask dance for the large crowd that has gathered, and the response she receives is phenomenal.
With the audition performance that will make or break her career just days away, it’s unclear why Jeong Nyeon is leisurely dancing at a marketplace instead of preparing for the high-stakes challenge.
