BIBI Dishes On Her Upcoming Drama "Gangnam B-Side"

BIBI talked about her character in Disney+’s upcoming original series “Gangnam B-Side”!

“Gangnam B-Side” is a crime drama about a detective, a prosecutor, and a mysterious broker each following different leads to find Jae Hee, the missing ace of a club. Directed and written by Park Nu Ri, known for the film “Money,” the series stars Jo Woo Jin, Ji Chang Wook, Ha Yun Kyung, and BIBI.

BIBI plays Jae Hee, a key figure in the disappearance case that shakes Gangnam. Having gained recognition for her acting in various projects, including Disney+’s original series “The Worst of Evil” and the film “Hopeless,” BIBI is expected to showcase a new side of herself as she portrays Jae Hee, a character with a cold exterior but a pure, passionate heart.

Sharing her thoughts on the character of Jae Hee, BIBI said, “I wanted her to be a character who was truly tired of life. I wanted to show the traces of a life lived fiercely, not just for the sake of rebellion.” She revealed that she put a lot of thought into portraying Jae Hee’s hidden narrative and emotions.

She also mentioned that due to developing the habit of clenching her teeth to express the character’s constant nervousness, she had even caused damage to her teeth. This attention to detail and her commitment to the role highlight her dedication to acting.

“Gangnam B-Side” marks the first time BIBI ever auditioned for a role in a series, making it an important milestone in her career. Director Park Nu Ri recalled the audition, saying, “As soon as she delivered her first line, she was exactly the Jae Hee I had imagined. I chose her without a second thought.”

Ji Chang Wook, who previously worked with BIBI in “The Worst of Evil,” praised her by saying, “Every time I act with her, I discover new and refreshing sides to her. That’s BIBI’s charm as an actor.” He added, “I found myself tearing up while watching her portrayal of Jae Hee.”
