Lim Ji Yeon Flees From Slavery To Survive In New Historical Drama “The Tale Of Lady Ok”
Upcoming JTBC drama “The Tale of Lady Ok” has offered a sneak peek at Lim Ji Yeon’s character!
“The Tale of Lady Ok” tells the intense survival con game of Ok Tae Young (Lim Ji Yeon), who fakes her name, status, and even her husband, and Cheon Seung Hwi (Choo Young Woo), who risks everything to protect her. Lim Ji Yeon’s character Goo Deok Yi is a servant forced to live as Lady Ok Tae Young, showcasing two very different sides of the same person.
Lim Ji Yeon portrays Goo Deok Yi, a slave born to enslaved parents who suffers under a cruel master. Despite enduring harsh treatment, Goo Deok Yi is intelligent, athletic, and skilled with her hands. She is also beautiful and has a kind heart, always willing to help others, even in tough situations. However, she hides these qualities to avoid provoking the anger of her cruel owner.
Newly released stills show Goo Deok Yi fleeing, covered in bruises and blood, creating a striking image. In the dark of a snowstorm, her shabby appearance and fear-filled eyes as she clutches her belongings highlight her desperate struggle for survival, reminding viewers of her humanity beyond her social status.
Lim Ji Yeon commented, “I’m curious about how I’ll look portraying Ok Tae Young, a character who is both one person and two at the same time. When choosing a project, a key point is whether it offers something I haven’t portrayed before, and this role was the perfect choice in that regard.” Her comments hint at the fresh aspects of her performance and raise expectations.
“The Tale of Lady Ok” is set to premiere on November 30 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
