Based on a popular webtoon, “Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born” is a new tvN drama set in the 1950s, shortly after the Korean War. Kim Tae Ri stars as the titular Jeong Nyeon, a young vocal prodigy who dreams of becoming a top traditional theater actor.

On the previous episode of “Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born,” Jeong Nyeon was kicked out of the Maeran troupe for breaking a cardinal rule. With nowhere else to turn in Seoul, she finally decided to take producing director (PD) Park Jong Guk (Kim Tae Hoon) up on his offer to make her a TV star.

In newly released stills from the drama’s next episode, Jeong Nyeon prepares to make her TV debut as a pop singer. After getting a glamorous makeover, Jeong Nyeon gets ready for her first live broadcast with a determined expression.

However, when Jeong Nyeon comes face to face with Park Jong Guk, she is unable to hide her hostility as she glares at him. Meanwhile, the executives watching Jeong Nyeon’s live broadcast from the control room look none too pleased by what they’re seeing, piquing curiosity as to what unexpected events might have unfolded.

Notably, in Episode 5, Jeong Nyeon will find out that she’s been scammed by Park Jong Guk. After figuring out his true intentions, Jeong Nyeon realizes that she’s a victim of fraud—but due to the hefty penalty she’d have to pay for breaking her contract, she is unable to get out of it. As a result, Jeong Nyeon must struggle to escape the PD’s clutches through her own unique methods.
