Sung Joon Shares Excitement About Joining “The Fiery Priest 2” And Insights On His Character
“The Fiery Priest” Season 2 has offered a sneak peek of Sung Joon’s character!
SBS’s “The Fiery Priest,” which first aired in 2019 and recorded a peak viewership rating of 22.0 percent, is about a Catholic priest with anger management issues and a cowardly detective who work together to solve a murder case. Kim Nam Gil, Lee Ha Nee, Kim Sung Kyun, and more from Season 1 will be reprising their roles in the upcoming season. In Season 2, they travel to Busan to confront the country’s top drug cartel in an unflinching joint investigation.
Sung Joon grabs attention with his role as Kim Hong Sik, a classic villain. The story follows Kim Hong Sik, who was sold to a drug cartel overseas as a child, as he returns to South Korea. With his tanned face, striking wolf cut, and colorful patterned shirt that reveals tattoos, he has a commanding presence. When he switches to a sharp suit and styled hair, his piercing gaze adds to the intrigue, leaving audiences eager to learn more.
Sung Joon expressed his gratitude and excitement about joining Season 2, stating, “I’m thankful and happy to be part of Season 2. I was a fan of Season 1, so I’m excited to be involved as a cast member. While I have concerns since this project has received so much love, I’m working hard to ensure I don’t disappoint. I hope viewers will continue to support us.”
He went on to describe his character Kim Hong Sik, as “a truly ruthless villain with no limits, someone who is merciless and unafraid of the law. This character is different from any I’ve played before. Most importantly, Kim Hong Sik has an unpredictable charm that I think will intrigue viewers.”
Finally, Sung Joon reached out to fans awaiting “The Fiery Priest 2,” saying, “I’m excited and a bit anxious about how viewers will receive my addition in Season 2.
