Um Tae Goo Finds Himself Drawn To A Mysterious Woman At The Bus Stop In Upcoming Drama “Light Shop”
Upcoming drama “Light Shop” has offered a sneak peek of Um Tae Goo’s character!
“Light Shop” follows the story of a unique lamp store that illuminates a dark alley and draws in mysterious guests with hidden secrets. The series is based on a webtoon by artist Kang Full. After writing the drama adaptation of his webtoon “Moving,” Kang Full also wrote the script for this project, which marks actor Kim Hee Won’s directorial debut.
Um Tae Goo is ready to showcase another character transformation in “Light Shop.” Known for his distinctive presence in each project, he has captivated fans in South Korea and internationally with his diverse acting roles.
In “Light Shop,” he presents a different charm with round glasses and a suit paired with a red shirt, generating excitement among fans. Um Tae Goo plays Hyun Min, a character who becomes intrigued by a mysterious woman he meets at a bus stop on his way home each night. He grows curious about her and eventually decides to speak with her. After their encounter, he starts to feel strange sensations.
Released stills capture key moments of Hyun Min’s journey, showing his daily routine of taking the bus home, his puzzled expression toward the mysterious woman, and the moment he realizes something is off. These moments leave viewers wondering what will happen to Hyun Min in the series.
Um Tae Goo shared his reasons for joining the project, stating, “The first reason is the incredibly powerful script.” He described it as “scary yet sad, strange yet warm,” calling it a unique production full of twists and emotional depth that he had never encountered before. He praised the storytelling of Kang Full, saying it captivated him.
“The second reason is Director Kim Hee Won,” he continued. “I trusted him 100% as both an actor and a director.” Um Tae Goo emphasized that his strong belief in both the script and the director was the main reason for his involvement in “Light Shop.” To fully embody the character of Hyun Min, he mentioned that he “worked closely with the director and had many discussions,” showcasing the depth of his character research and raising anticipation for his performance.
Director Kim Hee Won expressed his satisfaction with Um Tae Goo’s transformation into Hyun Min. He said, “In his previous projects, he often played strong roles, so I wanted to see him portray a shy and ordinary character this time. He really did well.”
Writer Kang Full also praised Um Tae Goo, noting, “I believe Hyun Min is the most realistic character in ‘Light Shop,’ and I was thrilled that Um Tae Goo performed it so naturally.” This acclaim builds anticipation for how Um Tae Goo’s detailed and nuanced performance will unfold in each scene.
“Light Shop” will consist of a total of eight episodes. Four episodes will be available on December 4, followed by the release of two episodes each week for the next two weeks.
