MBC’s upcoming drama “When the Phone Rings” has shared new character posters!

Based on a popular web novel, “When the Phone Rings” tells the story of Baek Sa Eon (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Hong Hee Joo (Chae Soo Bin), a couple that married for convenience—and the the romance that blossoms between them after a threatening phone call.

The character posters highlight the unique qualities of the four main actors—Yoo Yeon Seok as Baek Sa Eon, Chae Soo Bin as Hong Hee Joo, Heo Nam Jun as Ji Sang Woo, and Jang Gyuri as Na Yu Ri.

Yoo Yeon Seok brings Baek Sa Eon to life as the youngest spokesperson for the Blue House and the business husband of Hong Hee Joo. He skillfully portrays Sa Eon’s calm and decisive nature, drawing viewers in with his performance. The line, “Hee Joo is not an appendix but a completely new language,” reflects the couple’s intricate relationship. Although their marriage began as a political arrangement, it has transformed into a bond in which he is committed to protecting his wife, who has become a valued part of his life.

Chae Soo Bin stars as Hong Hee Joo, a sign language interpreter dealing with mutism due to a childhood accident. Her heartfelt gaze at her husband captures attention. The tagline, “You were the only one who listened, even when I didn’t say a word,” hints at changes in their relationship after she is kidnapped by a mysterious figure, disrupting their communication. This sets the stage for a romance between the two, who appear perfect for each other on the surface. Chae Soo Bin’s ability to convey her character’s complexities through nonverbal cues—like eye contact, facial expressions, and actions—promises to engage viewers even more.

Heo Nam Jun plays Ji Sang Woo, a psychiatrist and mystery-focused content creator, while Jang Gyuri portrays Na Yu Ri, a self-proclaimed top news anchor. Both actors command a strong presence.
