Lee Min Ki And Han Ji Hyeon's Layered Performances And Dynamic Chemistry Captivate Viewers In 'Face Me'

KBS2’s new drama “Face Me” has captured viewers’ attention right from its first two episodes!

“Face Me” is a mystery thriller that follows the unlikely partnership between cold plastic surgeon Cha Jeong Woo (Lee Min Ki) and passionate detective Lee Min Hyeong (Han Ji Hyeon), who team up to solve crimes by utilizing reconstructive surgeries for the victims.

In the previous episodes, Cha Jeong Woo’s brilliant but emotionally detached nature shines through. In one striking scene, he bluntly tells a burn victim, “This is a cosmetic surgery clinic. We don’t do reconstructive surgery,” showing a harsh indifference even as the patient’s guardian pleads tearfully. Lee Min Ki captures his character’s essence with his measured tone and steady, unyielding gaze.

However, Lee Min Ki also subtly hints at Jeong Woo’s hidden compassion through some scenes when he reaches out to patients. Despite his stoic exterior, he listens to patients’ stories and even aids someone wrongfully accused by discerning the details of the incident by looking at injuries. These moments reveal layers of empathy, giving viewers glimpses into a deeper side of his character.

Lee Min Ki’s chemistry with other characters is equally captivating. While Jeong Woo is generally aloof, he reveals a softer, more relaxed side around close friends Han Woo Jin (Lee Yi Kyung) and Kim Seok Hoon (Jeon Bae Soo). His shift in tone offers a refreshing balance to the drama’s intense atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Han Ji Hyeon makes a memorable transformation as Lee Min Hyeong, her first role as a detective. She brings Min Hyeong’s vibrant personality to life with quirky habits—like grabbing chocolate after a case and chasing down criminals on an electric scooter—that add both charm and delightful elements to the show.

Han Ji Hyeon’s meticulously executed action scenes enrich the drama even further. Having trained at an action school to prepare for the role, she collaborated closely with the crew to perfect every detail. Han Ji Hyeon’s seamless portrayal of a cool Violent Crime Unit detective, always alert and ready for action, makes Min Hyeong feel real and compelling.

Lee Min Ki and Han Ji Hyeon’s synergy is another highlight, with their contrasting yet complementary personalities creating engaging on-screen dynamics. As a doctor and detective both committed to standing up for victims, their reluctant alliance only deepens with each case, leaving viewers eager to see how their evolving partnership will unravel in the episodes to come.

The next episode of “Face Me” will air on November 13 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
