Go Soo On Why He Chose To Star In "Parole Examiner Lee," His Chemistry With Co-Stars, And More
Go Soo has shared his thoughts on his upcoming drama “Parole Examiner Lee”!
“Parole Examiner Lee” tells the story of lawyer Lee Han Shin (Go Soo), who becomes a parole officer responsible for making final decisions on inmate paroles. Lee Han Shin is determined to prevent inmates who show little remorse for their crimes from obtaining parole through money, connections, or deceitful tactics.
Explaining why he chose the project, Go Soo said, “The title ‘Parole Examiner Lee’ immediately caught my interest.”
“The focus on parole was intriguing, and I also liked the character’s name, Lee Han Shin,” said the actor. “I had high expectations because the project won the grand prize in the KT Studio Genie series contest, and I was curious to see how it would be adapted into a drama. That’s why I was eager to take on the role of Lee Han Shin.”
Lee Han Shin, a former prison guard turned lawyer, is defined by his strength and determination to seek justice. Go Soo noted, “His profession alone shows he’s a character driven by a strong desire to uphold justice.” He added, “He’s tough and persistent when solving problems, but he also collaborates and works well with others. He’s a character with many different sides.”
While portraying the complex character, Go Soo focused on several key aspects. “This project had many fresh and unique elements I hadn’t seen in other works, which made it exciting and fun,” he said. “The more I researched the character, the more I wanted to do a great job bringing the story to life and portraying the profession. I had many discussions with the director and writer.”
Go Soo also chose the collaboration between Lee Han Shin and loan shark Choi Hwa Ran (Baek Ji Won) as a standout part of the story. He explained, “I felt a sense of catharsis in the dynamic where justice and evil team up to defeat an even greater evil. I approached this aspect carefully.”
Go Soo also spoke confidently about his chemistry with his co-stars Yuri and Baek Ji Won. “Both Yuri and Baek Ji Won are full of energy,” he said. “They’re passionate and proactive, so we supported each other’s strengths and helped fill in each other’s weaknesses during filming.”
As the premiere approaches, Go Soo shared a message for fans eagerly awaiting the show. Urging fans to tune in to the premiere, he said, “I know many of you are already showing interest even before the first broadcast. Starting November 18, I’ll be with you every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m. KST through ‘Parole Examiner Lee,’ a project we’ve worked hard on. I hope for your support and encouragement.”
