Spoilers
Jang Hee Jin’s special appearance in the next episode is drawing attention after stills of her character were revealed. The show has already received praise for the strong performances of veteran actors, including Moon So Ri, Lee Deok Hwa, Oh Dae Hwan, Lee Min Ji, and Woo Mi Hwa. With Jang Hee Jin joining the drama, there are high expectations for her to deliver a standout performance as the series approaches its finale.
Jang Hee Jin plays Hong Mae, a former member of the Maeran National Theater troupe who joined in the early stages alongside Moon Ok Kyung (Jung Eun Chae) and Seo Hye Rang (Kim Yoon Hye). After leaving the troupe, she became the second wife of a wealthy man. Having previously worked with director Jung Ji In on “The Red Sleeve,” Jang Hee Jin joined the drama at the director’s request, showcasing her loyalty.
In the newly released stills, Hong Mae stands out with her sleek bob haircut and bold red lipstick, exuding a glamorous and captivating presence. She is seen sharing a warm meal with Maeran’s leader, So Bok (Ra Mi Ran), whose friendly smile and gaze toward Hong Mae add a comforting touch.
In the previous episode, the troupe was shaken when Ok Kyung unexpectedly retired and disappeared after the first performance of “The Fool and the Princess.” Additionally, So Bok expelled Hye Rang (Kim Yoon Hye) for harming Jeong Nyeon (Kim Tae Ri), resulting in the loss of two of Maeran’s top performers. This raises the question of why So Bok has sought out Hong Mae, another former student, amidst the chaos.
The next episode of “Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born” will air on November 16 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
