Um Tae Goo And Seolhyun Dish On Their Upcoming Drama “Light Shop,” Working Together Again, And More
Actors Seolhyun and Um Tae Goo recently participated in a photo shoot with the fashion magazine Elle Korea.
The photo shoot captures the mysterious and peculiar atmosphere of Disney+’s upcoming original series “Light Shop,” set to be released on December 4.
In an interview that followed the photo shoot, Seolhyun, who plays Ji Young, a mysterious woman who sits at a bus stop every night waiting for someone in “Light Shop,” shared, “I cried a lot while reading the script,” adding, “We filmed in cold weather, but it was a warm experience for me. This project had a unique vibe, and it was a big challenge for me. I tried lowering my tone and speaking more slowly than usual. I hope viewers will discover a new side of me through the drama.”
Um Tae Goo, who plays Hyun Min, a man who encounters Ji Young at a bus stop on his way home each night, expressed, “After reading the original webtoon, I felt both scared and deeply moved. It deeply resonated with me.”
He continued, “Since I’ve never played a role like this before, the character of Hyun Min itself was a challenge. That’s why I’m really curious about how the final result will turn out. The story changes dramatically from the middle onward, and you can feel a shift in the actors’ performances as well. My narrative with Seolhyun also changes, so it will be fun to watch.”
Having previously starred together in the film “The Great Battle,” Seolhyun spoke fondly of their reunion, saying, “I was so happy when I heard that we would be working together again. Um Tae Goo is a senior with incredible focus on set, and I learned a lot from him. Every time we had a scene together, we got closer by chatting.”
Um Tae Goo added, “This collaboration was even better than the last. Seolhyun is a kind person and a great actress, and that really shines through in her work. On set, she was considerate of everyone and showed remarkable strength in enduring the tougher parts of the shoot. I really admired that.”
Regarding the drama, which is described with the phrase, “the boundary between life and death,” Seolhyun explained, “It’s more of a story about the world we live in. If you look at it from that perspective, you’ll see a lot more.” Um Tae Goo concluded, “Looking back, I’ve spent both the beginning and end of this year with ‘Light Shop.’ I want to spend the last day of 2024 with it as well,” showing his affection for the project.
