Kim Nam Gil And Kim Sung Kyun Bring Laughter With Parody Of Iconic Greeting Scene From “Reply 1988” In “The Fiery Priest 2”
SBS’s “The Fiery Priest 2” has unveiled new stills ahead of the upcoming episode!
A sequel to the hit 2019 drama about priest Kim Hae Il (Kim Nam Gil) with anger management issues, “The Fiery Priest 2” follows his story as he takes on the boss role of an organization by night and heads to Busan to fight the top drug cartel in the country.

In episode 6, Kim Hae Il discovered a wanted poster of hitman Oh Han Mo, who closely resembled Goo Dae Young (Kim Sung Kyun), that led him to create an undercover plan involving Goo Dae Young . Goo Dae Young teamed up with Goo Ja Young (BIBI), Oh Yo Han (Go Kyu Pil), and Ssong Sak (Ahn Chang Hwan) to infiltrate the “Saggri” crime syndicate, closely tied to Oh Han Mo, and began to move toward the drug cartel, setting up the suspense for what happens next.
Kim Hae Il meets Kim Sung Kyun (who shares the actor’s real name), now sporting a hairstyle with a 2-to-8 part and large glasses, resembling Jung Hwan’s father from “Reply 1988.” The two meet at a fast food shop, creating a tense atmosphere. Kim Hae Il listens intently to Kim Sung Kyun, his sharp gaze filled with curiosity. Kim Sung Kyun greets him with a cheerful, “Nice to meet you!” adding a lighthearted touch to the moment.
However, after they part ways, Kim Hae Il’s expression shifts suddenly after receiving a phone call. Meanwhile, Kim Sung Kyun, wearing sunglasses and holding seaweed and kelp, exudes confidence, leaving viewers eager to uncover the mystery behind this moment.
Kim Nam Gil and Kim Sung Kyun bring the perfect mix of parody and chemistry in this scene, showcasing their dynamic. The two actors share a strong connection, with their eye contact reflecting a deep understanding. Their performances move effortlessly from serious to playful, displaying their range.
The production team praised the actors, saying, “Kim Nam Gil and Kim Sung Kyun are reliable actors who bring life to the scene.” They also teased, “Look forward to Kim Hae Il’s powerful awakening, surpassing even the Virgin Mary statue fire incident, and Goo Dae Young’s decision to confront the drug cartel head-on in episodes 7 and 8.”
