Cho Hyun Chul And Kim Jong Soo Navigate Their Lives Abroad In Upcoming Film “Bogota: City Of The Lost”
Upcoming film “Bogota: City of the Lost” has offered a sneak peek of Cho Hyun Chul’s and Kim Jong Soo’s characters!
Directed by Kim Sung Je, “Bogota: City of the Lost” is a crime thriller that tells the story of Guk Hee (Song Joong Ki), who, in the wake of the IMF crisis, heads to Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, with new hopes. There, he becomes entangled with Soo Young (Lee Hee Joon), a customs broker, and Sergeant Park (Kwon Hae Hyo), a key figure in the Korean community in Bogotá.
Cho Hyun Chul plays Soo Young’s junior Jae Woong, who comes to Bogotá as an exchange student. Jae Woong tries to keep Guk Hee, who has earned Soo Young’s trust, in check. Though timid and fragile, Jae Woong gradually builds his presence in Bogotá’s Korean community and supports Soo Young.
The newly released character stills show Jae Woong in a puffer jacket, sitting with his hands and legs neatly positioned. His polite posture contrasts with a rebellious look in his eyes, highlighting his complex character. Cho Hyun Chul is expected to bring depth to the role, capturing Jae Woong’s growth and layered personality through his expressive acting.
Cho Hyun Chul shared, “I thought a lot about the emotions immigrants might experience in their lives. I also considered how to express the character’s transformation from beginning to end.”
Kim Jong Soo plays Guk Hee’s father Geun Tae, who moves his family to Colombia after his sewing factory goes bankrupt during the IMF crisis. With help from his Vietnam War comrade Sergeant Park, he hopes to find a new start in Bogotá.
Upon arriving, Geun Tae calls Sergeant Park and surveys the Bogotá market. His facial expression reveals both fear and determination to take care of his family in a new country. Known for his strong presence and steady acting, Kim Jong Soo is expected to portray the deeply troubled father who has lost everything due to the IMF crisis.
Kim Jong Soo discussed the challenge of portraying his character’s complex emotions, sharing, “The sense of loss he would feel when he believes his existence is being erased would be immense, both personally and as a father.”
