Yoo Jae Myung And Park Hoon Dish On Their Upcoming Film “Harbin”

Actors Yoo Jae Myung and Park Hoon have shared their thoughts on their roles in the upcoming film “Harbin.”

Set in 1909 and starring Hyun Bin as Ahn Jung Geun, “Harbin” is a historical spy thriller about resistance fighters aiming to end the Japanese occupation of Korea.

Yoo Jae Myung, who has impressed with his excellent performances in theater productions, dramas such as “Forest of Secrets 2” and “Itaewon Class,” and the film “Voice of Silence,” takes on the role of Choi Jae Hyung, a steadfast supporter of Ahn Jung Geun and his comrades, who provides a foundation for their independence movement and supports their activities in every way possible. He also acts as a trusted confidant, deeply understanding Ahn Jung Geun’s inner struggles and offering unwavering support.

Known for his standout performances in films such as “12.12: The Day,” “Noryang: Deadly Sea,” “Hansan: Rising Dragon,” and “Confidential Assignment 2: International,” Park Hoon takes on the role of Mori Tatsuo, a lieutenant colonel in the Japanese army. Mori Tatsuo is a character consumed by blind patriotism toward Japan. After being defeated in a battle and captured as a prisoner of war, he is released due to the benevolence of Ahn Jung Geun. However, instead of gratitude, he is consumed by feelings of humiliation and prepares a counterattack to dismantle the Korean Independence Army.

Reflecting on his role in the film, Yoo Jae Myung commented, “Participating in ‘Harbin’ felt like a duty, both as a person living in this era and as a citizen of Korea. I wanted to perfectly capture Choi Jae Hyung’s resolute personality.”

Director Woo Min Ho expressed his confidence in Yoo Jae Myung’s casting, saying, “Yoo Jae Myung’s aura made him the perfect choice to portray a figure who was the backbone of the independence movement. He brought the character to life perfectly with his strong presence.”

Speaking about his character in “Harbin,” Park Hoon stated, “I put a lot of thought into how to portray a character deeply immersed in militarism and imperialism. From reading the script to the actual filming, I approached it with a great sense of responsibility.”

Director Woo Min Ho added, “It must have been challenging to embody a character relentlessly pursuing General Ahn Jung Geun, but Park Hoon perfectly captured the tension that drives the plot. I am deeply grateful for his performance.”

“Harbin” will hit theaters on December 25.
