Watch: Yoo Yeon Seok, Chae Soo Bin, And More Share Playful Moments While Perfecting Each Scene In "When The Phone Rings" Making-Of Video

MBC’s new drama “When the Phone Rings” has unveiled a behind-the-scenes video for Episodes 3 and 4!

Based on a popular web novel, “When the Phone Rings” tells the story of Baek Sa Eon (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Hong Hee Joo (Chae Soo Bin), a couple that married for convenience—and the romance that blossoms between them after a threatening phone call.

The newly released making-of video highlights some delightful moments on set. The video begins with Chae Soo Bin receiving beer foam makeup as Yoo Yeon Seok sweetly offers suggestions. While filming the scene where Baek Sa Eon declares, “I’m not going to divorce you,” a startled Chae Soo Bin struggles with her beer and foam-covered face, leading to several NGs and laughter as Yoo Yeon Seok also fumbles to find the right timing.

In another scene, Chae Soo Bin steals Yoo Yeon Seok’s pillow during their bed scene. Chae Soo Bin, trying to keep a straight face as Yoo Yeon Seok dramatically reacts to losing his pillow, jokes, “Can I not look at him? I’ll look at the pillow instead.”

The video also spotlights Jang Gyuri and Heo Nam Jun during a restaurant scene. While talking with the director, Jang Gyuri shares, “The writer says if she has to describe Na Yu Ri (Jang Gyuri’s character) in one word, it’d be ‘lunatic.’ So I figured Yu Ri must be a bright extrovert.” This leads to playful banter and spontaneous adlibs suggested on set. During a break, Heo Nam Jun also causes laughter as he makes funny faces at the camera.

Lastly, in the scene where Yoo Yeon Seok has to spin Chae Soo Bin’s chair, he jokes, “So I turn her chair… and I keep turning her,” as he continues with his lines, bringing big laughter to the set. The two then discuss ways to make the scene look more sexy following the director’s suggestion, experimenting with angles and movements until they agree on one action sequence.
