Lee Joo Young Confirmed To Lead New Revenge Thriller Drama
Lee Joo Young is set to star in the upcoming Wavve original drama “Punishment” (working title)!
On December 6, Joy News reported that Lee Joo Young will star as the lead in an upcoming eight-episode series titled “Punishment,” with filming scheduled to begin in mid-December.
In response to the report, Lee Joo Young’s agency TEAMHOPE confirmed, “Lee Joo Young has officially been cast as the lead in Wavve’s original drama ‘Punishment.’ Filming is set to commence this month.”
“Punishment” is a revenge thriller and crime drama that tells the story of an unknown actress who, after losing her parents to a phishing scam, uses deepfake technology to infiltrate a massive voice phishing syndicate to bring them down.
Lee Joo Young will star as Ha So Min, a struggling, unknown actress who relies on sheer determination. After losing her parents to a phishing scam, she embarks on a quest for revenge.
The drama tackles the growing social issues of voice phishing and deepfake crimes. By featuring realistic depictions of various phishing schemes—including abductions, loan fraud, and messenger scams—the drama aims to deliver a heightened sense of authenticity.
“Punishment” is set to premiere on Wavve in May next year.
