Gong Hyo Jin Opens Up About Her Role In “When The Stars Gossip,” Key Drama Points, And More

Gong Hyo Jin has shared her thoughts on her upcoming drama “When the Stars Gossip”!

“When the Stars Gossip” will tell the unlikely love story of Commander Eve Kim (Gong Hyo Jin), who works at a zero-gravity space station, and Gong Ryong (Lee Min Ho), a tourist at the space station who has arrived with a secret mission.

After six years, Gong Hyo Jin is making her return to the screen, playing the role of Commander Eve Kim, the leader of a space station. She explained her decision to take on the role, saying, “I was drawn to the freshness of a space-set drama and the novelty of playing a commander as I’ve always played the youngest character in writer Seo Sook Hyang’s works. The trust I have in director Park Shin Woo and writer Seo Sook Hyang also played a big part in my decision.”

She described her character as “crispy on the outside, tender on the inside,” a Korean expression meaning someone who appears tough but is soft at heart. “Unlike the roles I’ve played before, Eve has no affection or interest in people; she’s only fascinated by experimental life forms,” Gong Hyo Jin said. “I worked hard to maintain the commander’s stiff demeanor to reflect that.”

Gong Hyo Jin’s styling has always been a highlight, and her portrayal of Eve Kim is no exception. As a space scientist, Gong Hyo Jin explained that she wears a space suit in more than half of the scenes. “The main look was a charismatic outfit suited for a space scientist. Instead of following trends, I chose a cool, timeless style,” she said.

Her simple outfits blend both style and professionalism, further building excitement for her portrayal of Commander Eve Kim.

Finally, Gong Hyo Jin shared some key points to look out for in “When the Stars Gossip.” She revealed that each scene, set in a zero-gravity environment, required careful planning and dedication. “The scenes in the space station involved wire-action stunts, and since it’s a space I’ve never experienced, I approached the acting as if I were learning everything from scratch,” she explained.
