MBC’s upcoming drama “Motel California” has released new teasers that tug at viewers’ heartstrings!

“Motel California” is a romance drama written by Lee Seo Yoon and directed by Jang Joon Ho and Kim Hyung Min. It is based on Shim Yun Seo’s 2019 novel “Home, Bitter Home” (literal title). The story follows Ji Kang Hee (Lee Se Young) who grows up in a rural motel called Motel California. After escaping her hometown, she returns 12 years later to reconnect with her first love and childhood friend Cheon Yeon Soo (Na In Woo) and face new challenges.

The first teaser below reveals Cheon Yeon Soo’s pure-hearted devotion and lingering feelings for Ji Kang Hee, stirring viewers’ emotions. Yeon Soo, who appears in front of Kang Hee with a changed appearance, confesses his feelings for her, saying, “I’ll gain weight. I’ll wear glasses again. And I’ll eat the first snow more than ten times.” He then asks her, “So, can I come see you now?” causing Kang Hee to shed heavy tears.

In the second teaser, Kang Hee tells Yeon Soo, “I told you not to lose weight. I told you not to take off your glasses in front of others,” showing a mix of resentment and endearing complaints, which reveal her affection for Yeon Soo. However, Kang Hee coldly walks away from Yeon Soo, evoking a sense of sadness. Viewers are left curious to find out what kind of past the two shared and whether their reunion can defy the age-old adage, “First love does not come about.”
