Choi Min Soo Transforms Into A Free-Spirited Rural Motel Owner In Upcoming Drama “Motel California”

MBC’s upcoming drama “Motel California” has offered a sneak peek of Choi Min Soo’s character!

“Motel California” is a romance drama written by Lee Seo Yoon and directed by Jang Joon Ho and Kim Hyung Min. It is based on Shim Yoon Seo’s 2019 novel “Home, Bitter Home” (literal title). The story follows Ji Kang Hee (Lee Se Young) who grows up in a rural motel called Motel California. After escaping her hometown, she returns 12 years later to reconnect with her first love and childhood friend Cheon Yeon Soo (Na In Woo) and face new challenges.

Choi Min Soo plays Ji Kang Hee’s father Ji Chun Pil, a free-spirited romantic who runs the motel. Chun Pil is charismatic and can easily draw people in, but he becomes soft and vulnerable around his daughter Kang Hee. Although he is quick to involve himself in village affairs, his relationship with Kang Hee is distant to the point that she even calls him “Mr. Chun Pil” instead of “Dad,” adding an intriguing layer to their dynamic.

In newly released stills, Choi Min Soo perfectly embodies the laid-back rural man with casual clothing, a scruffy beard, and gentle eyes. His relaxed appearance reflects his free-spirited nature, while his intense gaze adds an unexpected charm, drawing attention.

Another still image below captures a tender moment between a young Kang Hee and Chun Pil, hinting at their once-close bond. The contrast with their current, distant relationship piques curiosity about how their dynamic will evolve.

The production team remarked, “Choi Min Soo, known for his skillful acting, has taken on the surprising role of Ji Chun Pil, a rural motel owner. He brings a gentle charisma that enhances his strong presence while skillfully showcasing Chun Pil’s sentimental side, making the character even more charming.”
