Oh Jung Se Dishes On His Upcoming Drama “When The Stars Gossip,” How He Prepared For His Role, And More

Oh Jung Se has shared his thoughts on his upcoming drama “When the Stars Gossip”!

“When the Stars Gossip” will tell the unlikely love story of Commander Eve Kim (Gong Hyo Jin), who works at a zero-gravity space station, and Gong Ryong (Lee Min Ho), a tourist at the space station who has arrived with a secret mission.

Oh Jung Se plays Kang Kang Soo, a space scientist and the second son of the owner family of a global financial company. Kang Kang Soo lives on a space station, researching fruit fly reproduction. Although he was expected to take over his family’s business, he surprised everyone by studying engineering instead.

Talking about his role in the drama, Oh Jung Se commented, “I initially thought to myself, ‘Can I do this?’ but then decided, ‘Let’s just try it.'”

He continued, “I’ve worked with Director Park Shin Woo before, and I learned a lot from him. He is meticulous yet determined, so I felt I could enjoy any project with him. The script was also unique and fun, so I had no reason not to take on the role.”

As this drama is the first of its kind in Korea—a space office drama—Oh Jung Se shared how he prepared for his role, saying, “I focused on expressing zero gravity on a space station, the emotions that come from being in a confined space, and the fact that it is ultimately a story about people.”

It is known that astronauts exercise on a daily basis to prevent muscle and bone deterioration in an environment with zero gravity. Oh Jung Se revealed that he tried to maintain a healthy physique to perfectly embody the character of Kang Kang Soo.

In conclusion, Oh Jung Se remarked, “This is a courageous drama that has tried a lot of new things. It is a story about life on a space station, with new and fresh takes on everything such as writing, directing, art, CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery), and acting, so please look forward to it.”
