Based on a popular web novel, MBC’s “When the Phone Rings” tells the story of Baek Sa Eon (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Hong Hee Joo (Chae Soo Bin), a couple that married for convenience—and the the romance that blossoms between them after a threatening phone call.

In newly released stills from the next episode of the drama, Baek Sa Eon attends a team dinner held to celebrate the arrival of new sign language interpreter Hong Hee Joo. As Sa Eon personally attending Hee Joo’s job interview to evaluate her caught the attention of his co-workers, all eyes will be on them at this staff dinner.
However, in the middle of the celebration, Sa Eon is quickly called outside by Park Do Jae (Choi Woo Jin). There, he finally gets to hear the results of the voice analysis of their audio recording of the mystery caller that has been threatening him every night.
After learning a shocking fact about the caller, Sa Eon wears an expression of disbelief as he holds his earbud in one hand. Then, in order to secure definitive evidence about the caller, he gives Do Jae another secret assignment.
Meanwhile, Hee Joo—who has nearly been found out by her husband multiple times while also receiving threats of her own from her kidnapper—is unable to look Sa Eon in the eye for a prolonged period of time. Instead, she instinctively finds herself averting her gaze when he looks her way.
