Na In Woo And Lee Se Young Break Up On New Year’s Day In Upcoming Drama "Motel California"
MBC’s upcoming drama “Motel California” has unveiled a glimpse of Na In Woo and Lee Se Young’s heartbreaking farewell!
Based on Shim Yoon Seo’s 2019 novel “Home, Bitter Home,” “Motel California” is a romance drama about a woman named Ji Gang Hui (Lee Se Young), who was born and raised in a rural motel called Motel California. After escaping her hometown, she returns home after 12 years and winds up reconnecting with her first love and childhood friend Cheon Yeon Su (Na In Woo).
In newly released stills from the upcoming drama, the young Ji Gang Hui leaves home on the first night of the new year. In Korea, teenagers legally become adults on New Year’s Day of the year they turn 19 (by international reckoning)—and so Gang Hui running away from home on New Year’s Day means that she is choosing to leave the moment she is no longer a minor.
Even before the sun has risen, Gang Hui arrives at the bus station with a large suitcase filled with her belongings. The size of her suitcase suggests she is heading somewhere far away, ready to make a fresh start in a far-off place.
As the snow falls around them, Gang Hui is unable to tear her eyes away from Yeon Su, who sits forlornly by her side as she waits for the bus. Meanwhile, in contrast to Gang Hui, who keeps sneaking glances at Yeon Su with an apologetic expression, the devastated Yeon Su bitterly refuses to look Gang Hui’s way.
“Motel California” premieres on January 10 at 9:50 p.m. KST and will be available to watch on Viki.
