MBC’s “When the Phone Rings” has teased a tense showdown ahead of tonight’s episode!

Based on a popular web novel, MBC’s “When the Phone Rings” tells the story of Baek Sa Eon (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Hong Hee Joo (Chae Soo Bin), a couple that married for convenience—and the romance that blossoms between them after a threatening phone call.

In the previous episode, Hong Hee Joo, who had been abducted once more by the kidnapper (Park Jae Yoon), drove the car with the kidnapper off a cliff to protect Baek Sa Eon, leaving her fate unknown. In response, Baek Sa Eon held a press conference to reveal his true identity and his missing wife Hee Joo to the world as he began a desperate search for her.

The suspense intensifies in newly released stills, which feature a chilling standoff between Sa Eon and the kidnapper. The kidnapper, revealed to be the biological son of Baek Eui Yong (Yoo Sung Joo) and the real Baek Sa Eon, confronts Sa Eon with simmering hostility.

Despite the mounting tension, Sa Eon remains composed, attempting to de-escalate the situation. However, the kidnapper points a gun at Sa Eon with a threatening gaze, pushing the confrontation to a breaking point.

In another still, the kidnapper leans in to whisper something to Sa Eon. The weight of the kidnapper’s words leaves Sa Eon visibly shaken, and he lowers his head in despair. The sorrowful look in his eyes raises curiosity about the secrets revealed during their encounter.

Meanwhile, questions linger about Hee Joo’s fate. With the kidnapper looking injured, viewers are left to wonder: is Hee Joo alive, and can Sa Eon overcome this harrowing ordeal to find her?
