Lee Sung Min Opposes Cha Joo Young And Lee Hyun Wook’s Ascent To The Throne In “The Queen Who Crowns”
Upcoming drama “The Queen Who Crowns” has shared new stills ahead of its premiere!
“The Queen Who Crowns” will tell the story of the fiery life of Queen Won Gyeong (Cha Joo Young), a kingmaker who dreamed of a new world in the early days of the Joseon dynasty and helped her husband, Lee Bang Won (Lee Hyun Wook), a king with whom she shared the power of the throne. Although she was described in historical records only as “King Taejong’s wife” or “Mrs. Min” without her full name, the drama will reimagine history from the perspective of Queen Won Gyeong, who lived an independent life without losing herself in spite of devastating betrayals and harsh reality.
Lee Sung Min will make a special appearance as Lee Bang Won’s father Taejo Lee Seong Gye, the founder of the Joseon Dynasty.
The newly released stills capture Won Gyeong, Bang Won, and Taejo Lee Seong Gye. Bang Won rises to power, with Won Gyeong standing strong by his side. However, their reign is threatened by those plotting against them. Taejo Lee Seong Gye, in particular, rejects Bang Won’s claim to the throne, saying, “The sorrow of having to kill my son is my destiny.” The released photos capture a tense atmosphere between Won Gyeong, Bang Won, and Lee Seong Gye. In one image, Won Gyeong is seen urgently rushing toward Bang Won and Lee Seong Gye, adding to the tension.
The performances of Cha Joo Young, Lee Hyun Wook, and Lee Sung Min are central to the drama’s gripping political narrative. Their performances will add depth to the story and make the intense power struggles even more engaging.
The production team shared, “After Won Gyeong and Bang Won ascend to the throne, they will face even greater turbulence. Taejo will challenge their rule, and the love-hate dynamic between Won Gyeong and Bang Won, as well as father-son conflict between Bang Won and Lee Seong Gye, will create a storm of developments from the very first episode.” They also encouraged viewers to watch the drama.
“The Queen Who Crowns” premieres on January 6 at 8:50 p.m. KST and will be available to watch on Viki.
