4 K-Dramas To Watch If You Miss 'Love Your Enemy'

Ju Ji Hoon and Jung Yu Mi had us entertained with their antics as the warring Seok Ji Won and Yoon Ji Won, who reconnect after 18 years after their breakup in the rom-com “Love Your Enemy.” Though the drama weaved in classic tropes of childhood connections, enemies-to-lovers, peppered with a never-ending family feud, it was refreshingly cute. If you are feeling the “Love Your Enemy” withdrawal symptoms, here are four K-dramas, including Ju Ji Hoon and Jung Yu Mi dramas, to entertain.

Princess Hours

If you were excited to see Ju Ji Hoon in the romance genre with “Love Your Enemy,” then you don’t want to miss out on an all-time Ju Ji Hoon classic, “Princess Hours.”

In an alternate modern Korea that still has traditional royalty, Shin Chae Kyung (Yoon Eun Hye), an ordinary art student, is forced to become Crown Prince Lee Shin’s (Ju Ji Hoon’s) bride. The marriage and arrangement is the result of an old promise between their grandfathers and also for the safety of the throne. Chae Kyung, who has led a rather normal life, finds herself navigating palace protocols as well as leading her life as the newly-anointed Crown Princess. Though initially Lee Shin is cool and aloof towards his rather clumsy bride, rest assured the two gradually fall in love.

“Princess Hours” is set in the present context but cleverly blends in tradition and modernity. When there is royalty concerned, we do get palace intrigues and manipulations, plus the contract marriage, which turns into a full blown love story. Ju Ji Hoon and Yoon Eun Hye are endearing in this modern-day version of a fairytale, and the romance which unfolds between the two is cute.

Discovery of Love

Missing Jung Yu Mi’s scowls and frowns in “Love Your Enemy”? Well, you get plenty of those in “Discovery of Love.” It was love at first sight for Han Yeo Reum (Jung Yu Mi) when she had met Kang Tae Ha (Eric Mun) on a train. However, five years into their relationship, there is no love, rather resentments since they can’t seem to adjust given their different personalities. They break-up only to meet years later, and Yeo Reum has moved on and found love with another. But Kang Tae Ha is determined to win her over. Will she allow him a second chance?

“Discovery of Love” is a simplistic tale on how relationships require nurturing and adjustments. As Yeo Reum and Tae Ha let their egos rule over everything else, they realize the futility of it all. Jung Yu Mi and Eric Mun also have a playful chemistry together.

“Welcome to Samdalri”

Cho Sam Dal (Shin Hae Sun) and Cho Yong Pil (Ji Chang Wook) in “Welcome to Samdalri” do have a bit in common with the Ji Won’s from “Love Your Enemy.” Sam Dal and Yong Pil grew up together in the seaside town of Samdalri in Jeju, and their families know each other well, so it’s only natural that the two transitioned from friends into lovers. However, their family dynamics from the past and their own personal issues wedged multiple differences between the two, and now they are back facing each other yet again, after 11 years.

Sam Dal is a hot-shot fashion photographer in Seoul, while Yong Pil works at the meteorological department in Samdalri. However, when a scandal upends Sam Dal’s life in Seoul, she goes back home but wants to steer clear of Yong Pil, with whom she had mercilessly broken-up with all those years ago.

“Welcome to Samdalri” is a feel-good drama and goes beyond the love and heartbreak of our two leads. It focuses on unresolved grief and how one should be grateful for the support of family and friends who stand by you, come what may.

“Love Next Door”

When it comes to Yoon Ji Won in “Love Your Enemy,” Seok Ji Won can’t help but wear his heart on his sleeve. He doesn’t mind toeing her line, and let her take the lead—just like our couple in “Love Next Door.”

Bae Seok Ryu (Jung So Min) and Choi Seung Hyo (Jung Hae In) are childhood friends, but unbeknownst to Seok Ryu, Seung Hyo has always liked her. Seok Ryu moves away to the States and gets engaged to be married, while Seung Hyo is a bright architect and has started his own architectural firm. When Seok Ryu unexpectedly comes back home, she has not only quit her job but also canceled her wedding. When the two meet again, they find their rhythm despite having been out of touch for years. But when Choi Seung Hyo musters his courage and tells her how he feels, he gets rejected by Seok Ryu, who is happy being just friends.

“Love Next Door” scores for its scorching chemistry between the two leads. Beyond being yet another childhood friends-to-lovers story, it sheds light on burn-out, the hustle culture, and how communication is imperative in every relationship.
