Jang Hyuk And Yoo Joon Sang To Reportedly Star In KBS's New Historical Drama + KBS Comments

Jang Hyuk and Yoo Joon Sang may be starring in an upcoming KBS’s historical drama!

On January 7, STARNEWS reported that KBS is planning to produce a new epic historical drama titled “The Chronicles of the Silla-Tang War” (working title).

Set during the late Three Kingdoms period of the 600s, “The Chronicles of the Silla-Tang War” will depict the intense conflicts among Goguryeo, Silla, Baekje, and Tang dynasty of China leading up to the unification of the Three Kingdoms under Silla and its ultimate triumph against Tang.

The series will feature key historical figures, including King Munmu (personal name: Kim Pop Min), Silla’s 30th ruler who completed the unification of the Three Kingdoms; General Kim Yu Sin, Silla’s legendary military commander; and King Taejong Muyeol (personal name: Kim Chun Chu), Silla’s 29th ruler who laid the groundwork for unification.

Jang Hyuk has reportedly been offered the role of Kim Yu Sin, while Yoo Joon Sang is reportedly in talks to portray Kim Chun Chu.

In response to the report, a KBS representative stated, “While those actors are being considered, nothing has been confirmed yet. There are still many decisions to be made, and we are carefully reviewing everything.”

KBS also clarified, “’The Chronicles of the Silla-Tang War’ is currently in the planning stage and nothing has been finalized regarding its title, scheduling, or casting.”
