Watch: Hyeri Welcomes Transfer Student Jung Soo Bin With A Mysterious Motive In New Thriller Drama

Upcoming drama “Friendly Rivalry” (literal translation) has unveiled a new teaser video!

Based on a popular webtoon, “Friendly Rivalry” is a mystery thriller set at Chaehwa Girls’ High School, an elite institution for the top 1 percent in South Korea, where cutthroat academic competition takes place between the students. Jung Soo Bin stars as Woo Seul Gi, a transfer student who becomes entangled in her classmates’ hidden ambitions—and the secret behind the mysterious death of her father, a former college entrance exam question setter.

The newly released teaser opens with a chilling scene: an unknown female student is seen drowning in water. The scene then shifts to Chaehwa Girls’ High School, where Yoo Jae Yi (Hyeri) confidently stands before the students as the student representative. In contrast, Woo Seul Gi enters the school as a naïve transfer student, drawing wary glances from her peers. A voice-over narration adds an element of suspense, saying, “When do you think the competition begins?”

The teaser then introduces the main characters with intriguing captions: Yoo Jae Yi is described as a “top student who can’t even be envied,” while Woo Seul Gi is labeled as a “top student desperate to survive.” Despite their contrasting situations, Yoo Jae Yi is shown approaching Seul Gi with curious looks as if she harbors intrigue toward Seul Gi.

Further fueling the mystery, the video also focuses on other students in their circle. Joo Ye Ri (Kang Hye Won) is seen taking a selfie in front of a mirror, while Choi Kyung (Oh Woo Ri) angrily tears up a piece of paper. In another scene, Choi Kyung remarks, “I’m against someone with an unclear identity joining our group,” raising curiosity about the complex and tense relationships among these ambitious, competitive female students.
