Im Seong Jae, Kim Jun Han, Lee Hak Joo, Tang Jun Sang, And More Navigate Zombie Attacks In Upcoming Drama “Newtopia”
Coupang Play’s upcoming drama “Newtopia” has released new stills featuring the supporting cast!
“Newtopia” tells the story of Jae Yoon (Park Jung Min), who is serving in the military, and his girlfriend Young Joo (BLACKPINK’s Jisoo) as they race through a zombie-infested Seoul to find each other.
The newly released stills highlight energetic characters navigating a world devastated by a zombie virus.
In a towering skyscraper, Jae Yoon leads a group fighting to escape. Im Seong Jae plays Private Ra In Ho, an older character with little awareness of his surroundings. Despite his clumsy behavior, which makes him seem immature, Ra In Ho shows deep respect for his superior, Jae Yoon. Together, they form an unlikely but effective duo, with Ra In Ho surprising others with acts of heroism and moments of lighthearted humor.
Kim Jun Han plays Aaron Park, the general manager of Eden Hotel. Committed to providing top-notch service, the zombie outbreak that disrupts the hotel is a nightmare for him. Proud of his position, Aaron Park struggles to protect the hotel from further destruction. Although he disapproves of Jae Yoon and Ra In Ho, who have tarnished the hotel’s reputation, Aaron Park joins forces with them to fight off the zombie horde.
Hong Seo Hee plays Oh Soo Jung, a hotelier with a strong sense of professionalism. Focused on protecting the hotel, she teams up with Jae Yoon and Ra In Ho to fight off the zombie horde. At unexpected moments, Oh Soo Jung surprises her companions with her boldness. The tense expression in the stills hints at a new side of Hong Seo Hee, showcasing her skillful portrayal of the character’s captivating charm.
The team led by Young Joo brings a fresh dynamic to the story as they move through the heart of Seoul. Kang Young Seok plays Seo Jin Wook, Young Joo’s university senior, who initially appears gentle. However, when he picks up a golf club and surveys the area, Seo Jin Wook reveals a much darker side than the kind senior he seemed to be. Kang Young Seok skillfully portrays this two-faced character, whose true nature comes to light during the zombie outbreak.
Lee Hak Joo plays Sung Tae Sik, the calm and logical strategist of the group. Known as Alex, he is a famous celebrity and the CEO of a game company. As the brain of Young Joo’s team, he brings sharp intelligence and is often seen explaining things while holding objects. His composed demeanor suggests he will play a key role in helping the team navigate the crisis in the heart of Seoul.
Tang Jun Sang plays a student retaking the college entrance exam for the third time, who is found drunk. Crying out, “I want to live,” he joins Young Joo’s group, leaving viewers curious about how someone so intoxicated could survive in a zombie-filled world.
Jae Yoon’s team tries to escape through a skyscraper surrounded by zombies, while Young Joo’s team moves through the heart of Seoul, showing powerful energy and unique personalities. Both teams are expected to deliver thrilling performances.
“Newtopia” is set to premiere on February 7 at 8 p.m. KST. Stay tuned!
