Lee Se Young Goes Incognito As She Makes Secretive Return To Her Hometown In “Motel California”

MBC’s “Motel California” has teased Lee Se Young’s return to her hometown!

Based on Shim Yoon Seo’s 2019 novel “Home, Bitter Home,” “Motel California” is a new romance drama about a woman named Ji Kang Hee (Lee Se Young), who was born and raised in a rural motel called Motel California. After escaping her hometown, she returns home after 12 years and winds up reconnecting with her first love and childhood friend Cheon Yeon Soo (Na In Woo).

In the newly released stills, Kang Hee, who once vowed never to return to her hometown Hana Village, makes her unexpected return. Fully disguised with a scarf wrapped tightly around her face and dark sunglasses, she exudes the aura of someone desperate to avoid recognition. While her almost fugitive-like appearance elicits amusement, her determined expression hints at her firm resolve to keep her identity concealed. Meanwhile, scenes of Kang Hee entering the Motel California lobby amplify questions about the mission behind her secretive return.

In the upcoming episode, Kang Hee returns to Hana Village as an interior designer, teaming up with Geum Seok Kyung (Kim Tae Hyeong) to lead a “motel remodeling project.” Viewers will learn why Kang Hee has returned to the very place she once abandoned at 20, leaving behind her first love and friends with the words, “I can’t take it anymore.”

As Kang Hee steps into a village filled with memories of Yeon Soo, but now alongside Seok Kyung, anticipation rises for the changes this will bring to her story with Yeon Soo. How will her return impact their relationship, and what surprises await at the Motel California?

The next episode of “Motel California” airs on January 17 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
