3 Points To Look Forward To In Roh Jeong Eui And Jinyoung's New Drama "The Witch"
Channel A’s upcoming Saturday-Sunday drama “The Witch” has shared three key points to anticipate ahead of its premiere!
Based on “Moving” author Kang Full’s webtoon, “The Witch” is a mystery romance that follows the story of a woman known as the “witch,” who was chased away from a village after all the men who fell in love with her died, and a man who tries to rescue her from the mysterious pattern of death.
Here are three points to look out for:
1. The law of misfortune
Similar to Murphy’s law, “The Witch” introduces a character doomed not just to misfortune, but also to tragedy. Mi Jung Jung (Roh Jeong Eui) is a woman trapped by a pattern where anyone who falls in love with her ends up hurt or dead. As rumors spread that she is the cause of these accidents and deaths, she is stigmatized as the witch, even though she may be innocent. This results in her becoming a social pariah, isolated from the world. In her loneliness, Mi Jung longs for someone to remember her, approach her, and help her escape from a situation where there seems to be no way out.
2. Big data and algorithms
The one person unaffected by the rumors is Dong Jin (GOT7’s Jinyoung). A man of logic and reason, he relies solely on data and algorithms to guide him, refusing to believe in the notion of a witch. Having harbored feelings for Mi Jung since high school but never confessing, Dong Jin chose to study Statistics, eventually becoming one of the top data miners in the field. When he unexpectedly encounters Mi Jung again, he is determined to help her escape her solitude. For Dong Jin, the existence of the witch cannot be explained through logic, prompting him to gather data and search for the truth behind the mysterious “law of misfortune.”
3. The redemption of love
The concept of the “witch” is born out of extreme emotions, especially hatred. Ironically, the redemption of the witch can only come through truth—something that can be understood through reasoning. Despite knowing that loving Mi Jung might lead to death, Dong Jin is undeterred. He embarks on a dangerous journey to uncover the truth, risking his own life in the process. Whether he can break the law of misfortune and show Mi Jung the light of hope remains to be seen in the upcoming drama.
“The Witch” will premiere on February 15 at 9:15 p.m. KST.
