Based on Shim Yoon Seo’s 2019 novel “Home, Bitter Home,” MBC’s “Motel California” is a new romance drama about a woman named Ji Kang Hee (Lee Se Young), who was born and raised in a rural motel called Motel California. After escaping her hometown, she returns home after 12 years and winds up reconnecting with her first love and childhood friend Cheon Yeon Soo (Na In Woo).
Spoilers
On the previous episode of “Motel California,” Ji Kang Hee rejected Cheon Yeon Soo, and the former couple went about their separate lives. The episode then ended with a love quadrangle forming between Kang Hee, Yeon Soo, Geum Seok Kyung (Kim Tae Hyeong), and Yoon Nan Woo (Choi Hee Jin).
In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming fourth episode, Yeon Soo carries a sleeping Kang Hee on his back on a snowy night. Kang Hee looks right at home on Yeon Soo’s back, as if falling asleep on him feels familiar and comfortable for her, while the expression on Yeon Soo’s face hints at his complicated emotions.
The “Motel California” production team teased, “In Episode 4, after Kang Hee returns to Hana-eup after being put in charge of the motel remodeling project, a new chapter of Kang Hee and Yeon Soo’s story begins.”
“As the two of them reunite in Hana-eup, their ‘exes love story’ will begin in earnest,” they continued, “so please look forward to it.”
The next episode of “Motel California” will air on January 18 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
