Watch: Former Girl Group Member Performs Solo For 1st Time On 'The King Of Mask Singer'

On the latest episode of “The King of Mask Singer,” the identity of masked singer “Handbell” was revealed!

During the January 19 broadcast of the MBC singing competition, four contestants advanced to the next round in their quest to challenge the reigning champion for the throne.

In the second match-up of Round 2, Handbell performed an emotional rendition of Na Yoon Kwon’s famous ballad “Expectation.”

Afterwards, Handbell offered another hint to her identity through a brief dance cover medley, dancing snippets of the choreographies to EXID’s “Up & Down” and AOA’s “Heart Attack.”

Spoilers

Although Handbell earned praise from the celebrity panel—which happened to include Na Yoon Kwon himself—for her vocals, she ultimately lost the round to her opponent.

When she took off her mask to unveil her identity, Handbell turned out to be Youjoung, who shot to fame as a member of Brave Girls (later BBGIRLS) before leaving the group last year.

Revealing that she hadn’t expected to see Na Yoon Kwon in the audience, Youjoung remarked, “I’m a huge fan of Na Yoon Kwon, and I was shocked to see him here. As soon as I came on stage, I saw him, and I became extremely nervous.”

Youjoung also shared that it was her very first time performing solo, noting with a laugh, “[Performing on my own] turned out to be something really nerve-racking.”

When asked about her plans for the future, Youjoung replied, “I’m currently working on a solo album, and I’m also taking on new challenges in variety shows, hosting, and acting. I’ll be working hard, so please keep an eye on me. Thank you.”
