Watch: Lee Se Young, Na In Woo, And Choi Hee Jin Bring Professionalism And Playful Energy In "Motel California" Making-Of Video
MBC’s “Motel California” has unveiled the latest making-of video, featuring moments from episodes 3 and 4!
Based on Shim Yun Seo’s 2019 novel “Home, Bitter Home,” “Motel California” is a new romance drama about a woman named Ji Kang Hee (Lee Se Young), who was born and raised in a rural motel called Motel California. After escaping her hometown, she returns home after 12 years and winds up reconnecting with her first love and childhood friend Cheon Yeon Soo (Na In Woo).
Spoilers
The latest behind-the-scenes footage highlights the moments when Ji Kang Hee storms into the wedding venue of Cheon Yeon Soo and Yoon Nan Woo (Choi Hee Jin) in her dream.
In the clip, Ji Kang Hee dramatically calls out to Cheon Yeon Soo outside a Catholic church where the wedding is taking place. Lee Se Young’s performance is playful yet emotional, perfectly showing her character’s feelings of betrayal, while Na In Woo reacts coldly, delivering his lines with a stern expression. Their performances are so natural that the director immediately calls, “Cut,” creating a lighthearted atmosphere on set.
Another scene features a highly-anticipated face-off between Ji Kang Hee and Yoon Nan Woo. Yoon Nan Woo, seated in the bride’s waiting room, is confronted by Ji Kang Hee, who storms in and grabs her hair in a fit of outrage.
The first take, however, doesn’t go as planned. The director steps in to show Lee Se Young exactly how to grab the hair, while Choi Hee Jin reassures her, saying, “It’s okay, Unnie,” to help ease any worries. The second attempt is a success, with Lee Se Young grabbing and shaking Choi Hee Jin’s hair so realistically that everyone on set bursts into laughter.
