Lee Byung Hun And Son Ye Jin Are A Happily Married Couple In Director Park Chan Wook's Upcoming Thriller Film
Director Park Chan Wook’s new film “No Other Choice” has completed filming!
“No Other Choice” is a suspense thriller film about an office worker who is suddenly fired and, in order to protect his wife and children and keep his home, embarks on a journey to find a new job. The film is based on the novel “The Ax,” a story that director Park Chan Wook has long wanted to adapt into a movie. Filming began in August last year and wrapped up on January 15 after five months.
“No Other Choice” also marks the long-awaited reunion between director Park Chan Wook and Lee Byung Hun, who previously worked together on the 2000 film “Joint Security Area” and the 2004 film “Three… Extremes.” In addition to leads Lee Byung Hun and Son Ye Jin, the film’s impressive cast includes Park Hee Soon, Lee Sung Min, Yeom Hye Ran, Cha Seung Won, and Yoo Yeon Seok.
Lee Byung Hun stars as Man Soo, a man struggling to find a new job after being laid off from the paper company where he worked for 25 years. Son Ye Jin plays his wife Mi Ri, who steps up to support the family after her husband’s unexpected job loss.
The first glimpse of Lee Byung Hun and Son Ye Jin in character captures a happy moment between Man Soo and Mi Ri, heightening anticipation for the two actors’ on-screen chemistry.
Director Park Chan Wook, who successfully completed 85 shooting sessions for “No Other Choice” between August 17 of last year and January 15, commented, “I think it’s been about 17 years since I started writing the script for this film. I am truly moved by finally completing filming for a project that I’ve wanted to make for so long.” He added, “I’m relieved that everything went according to plan. I’ll work hard during post-production to create a film that everyone involved will feel proud of.”
Lee Byung Hun remarked, “I’ll always remember the time I spent exchanging ideas with the director as if we were old friends. With so many discussions that led to new ideas, I feel the film has become even richer. I always look forward to seeing the final cut of my projects, but I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited for one as I am for this.”
Son Ye Jin shared, “I can’t believe how quickly time flew. As a fan of both director Park Chan Wook and actor Lee Byung Hun, it was an honor to be part of this project. Watching the process unfold, I felt at every moment that this would be an amazing film. I can’t wait to show it to viewers.”
“No Other Choice” is currently undergoing post-production and is expected to be released soon.
