Choi Woo Shik, Park Bo Young, Lee Jun Young, And Jeon So Nee Depict The Bittersweet Journeys Of Youth In "Melo Movie"
Netflix’s highly anticipated drama “Melo Movie” has unveiled character stills of Choi Woo Shik, Park Bo Young, Lee Jun Young, and Jeon So Nee!
“Melo Movie” is a romantic drama that captures the film-like journey of uncertain thirty-something young adults yearning for both love and dreams. The series follows individuals with personal struggles who find inspiration and solace in one another while overcoming their own traumas.
The newly released character stills first show Ko Gyeom (Choi Woo Shik) surrounded by a sea of movie posters and videotapes. Dreaming of watching every movie ever made, Ko Gyeom transitions from a minor actor to a film critic. True to the rules of romance drama, he falls for Kim Mu Bee at their very first encounter.
Park Bo Young portrays Kim Mu Bee. Once a film hater, she reluctantly becomes a director due to her complicated love-hate relationship with her father, a film enthusiast. Her world is further upended when Ko Gyeom reenters her life, entangling her in a web of complex emotions.
Lee Jun Young portrays Hong Si Jun, a self-proclaimed genius who is, in reality, an unknown composer. His life takes a turn when he reunites with Son Ju A, his former lover whom he dated for a long time and who has returned as a successful screenwriter. Hong Si Jun’s cold, empty gaze reflects the loss and pain he’s endured following their breakup, starkly contrasting with his once-confident persona.
Jeon So Nee takes on the role of Son Ju A, Ko Gyeom’s friend and Hong Si Jun’s former lover who finds inspiration by looking at their relentless pursuit of their dreams, which eventually drives her to become a screenwriter. After breaking up with Hong Si Jun and leaving, she returns as a successful writer, bringing their story to a poignant crossroads.
Director Oh Choong Hwan and writer Lee Na Eun described “Melo Movie” as “a story of us.” Director Oh Choong Hwan shared, “This series doesn’t just capture the beautiful moments of youth; it delves into personal struggles and traumas, making it deeply relatable.” Writer Lee Na Eun added, “Rather than the typical imagery associated with ‘youth,’ I wanted to portray the story of us who stand at an uncertain crossroads. It’s a narrative that naturally follows the perspectives and emotions of its characters.”
“Melo Movie” premieres on Netflix on February 14.
