4 Emotional Moments From The Final Episodes Of "Who Is She!"
“Who Is She!” has ended, and for all of us who joined Oh Doo Ri (Jung Zi So) and Daniel Han (Jung Jinyoung) on their journey, it was a bittersweet farewell. Nonetheless, the show gave us several moments full of realizations, answers, and most of all, emotions. While it might not have been the finale everyone hoped for, it stayed true to the nature of this show, proving that the best course of action will always be to follow your heart. Here are the most memorable, emotional moments from the last episodes of this K-drama.
Warning: spoilers from episodes 11-12 below!
1. Daniel telling the truth about Kim Ae Sim
As some might have guessed, the relationship between Daniel and Kim Ae Sim (Cha Hwa Yun) is deeper than we thought. She is actually his birth mother, who decided to leave him behind as a baby to continue with her career. However, as much as she tries to make amends for abandoning him, it is clear he doesn’t need her in his life anymore. He already gave up his career once to protect that secret, but that doesn’t mean he is willing to sacrifice Oh Doo Ri and the rest of his people to do it once more.
He cleverly plans a way to expose the person who harassed and stalked him for years, creating the perfect situation and promoting the upcoming debut of UNIS Entertainment’s group. Throughout all this time, Daniel always showed his generous and selfless personality, which stayed the same until the very last moment. That is also the reason why he conquered Doo Ri’s heart. In the end, he finds his way out of UNIS and learns a new way of living, which could be good closure in some way.
2. Mr. Park accepting his past and present
Another person who finds his happiness is Park Gab Yong (Jung Bo Suk), though admittedly not the one he was looking for in the beginning. He took the chance to be young again in order to help Oh Mal Soon (Kim Hae Sook) and win her love, but sometimes, as much as you try, some things cannot be. After realizing that he could never be more than her friend, he peacefully accepts it and lets her go.
But that doesn’t mean he stops supporting her because their unbreakable bond goes beyond any romantic relationship. Once he gets a balance between the life he could have and his family, it is pretty clear what his choice will be. He accomplishes his frustrated dream to be a battle champion as Park Jun (Yoo Jung Hoo), but later on, he returns to his son’s side and even ends up protecting Mal Soon’s restaurant along with her son-in-law, always looking out for her even when they are apart.
3. Oh Mal Soon revealing her secret to her daughter
It was just a matter of time before Oh Mal Soon’s daughter, Ban Ji Sook (Seo Young Hee), noticed the great resemblance between her mother and Oh Doo Ri. From the way they speak to the way they cook, they appear to be the same person. It wasn’t necessarily any big confession, but the moment they face each other, the truth reveals itself. As a last act of love from Ji Sook to her mother, Ji Sook asks Mal Soon to be free and choose a life for herself instead of going back to her old self.
Ji Sook not only got the chance to reconcile with her mother and daughter, but she also got the opportunity to find her happiness. Through the dedication and perseverance Choi Ha Na (Chae Won Bin) showed her, she learned how to pursue her dreams, and with the unending love from her mother, she could let go of her painful past. In that sense, Oh Mal Soon also helped her family to have a happy ending by going after her dreams.
4. Oh Doo Ri making her final choice
Oh Mal Soon’s journey ends on a bittersweet note when she has to face one final decision. The man who gave her a second chance to relive her youth gives an ultimatum to her. She either goes back to her old life or continues living as Oh Doo Ri for six months before disappearing forever. Though it is sad seeing her saying goodbye to everyone she knows, it is clear why Mal Soon chooses to continue as Doo Ri until the very end.
The show also reveals that she actually had signs of early Alzheimer’s disease, which eventually would have made her lose herself. So Oh Mal Soon made the best decision for herself and also for her family and loved ones. She found a new purpose in life, achieved her dream of debuting as a singer, and even made peace with Kim Ae Sim. Finally, this flower got the chance to bloom. And although it is the end of “Who Is She!” hopefully that is only the beginning of Oh Doo Ri and Daniel’s love story.
