During the interview, Go Ara and Jang Ryul shared their candid thoughts on their upcoming drama. Go Ara teased, “First and foremost, it captures ‘life.’ From Episodes 1 to 10, Princess Hwa Ri goes through all sorts of challenges. There are many events that hit her like a giant wave. So there are plenty of emotional scenes as well.”

She continued, “Love can’t be left out either. [The drama] is also like a ‘rainbow,’ because it contains stories of various people. There’s our couple’s love story, and most of the characters have their own love stories to share as well. I hope viewers will focus on that aspect.”

When asked about his character Choi Hwan, Jang Ryul described him as “an onion.” He elaborated, “At first, you can’t really tell what kind of person he is. The synopsis mentions words like ‘rich’ and ‘playboy,’ but these alone don’t fully explain him, and you’ll get to see a different side of Choi Hwan. I was also drawn to this multidimensional character.”

Go Ara also reflected on her character, remarking, “At the beginning, Princess Hwa Ri is an immature girl, but the process of how she grows into a mature person was what attracted me. I felt that I could portray a wide spectrum of emotions.”

Regarding what they want to learn from each other, Jang Ryul chose “rich emotions.” He explained, “The way [Go Ara] brings out emotions instantly looked cool to me. Since I tend to be calmer, I also wanted to learn how to bring brighter energy on set so that people could feel more comfortable approaching me.”

Go Ara, in turn, shared her appreciation for Jang Ryul’s thoughtfulness. “I also learned a lot by observing how considerate he is toward his co-stars and the staff on set,” she said.

Go Ara and Jang Ryul’s full interview and pictorial can be found in the February issue of Cosmopolitan Korea. Meanwhile, their upcoming drama “The Scandal of Chunhwa” will premiere on February 6.
