Veteran Actress Lee Joo Shil Passes Away

Actress Lee Joo Shil has passed away at the age of 80.

On February 2, a representative from her agency 1230culture confirmed, “Actress Lee Joo Shil passed away on the morning of this day.”

The agency stated, “Approximately three months ago, actress Lee Joo Shil’s health declined, and she was diagnosed with stomach cancer after an examination from the hospital.” The actress had previously been diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993 and had won the battle after over 10 years.

Born in 1944, Lee Joo Shil debuted through the theater stage in 1964, and she starred in numerous projects including “Train to Busan,” “Country Diaries,” “The Uncanny Counter,” and “It’s Beautiful Now.” Last year, Lee Joo Shil also starred in KBS2’s weekend drama “Beauty and Mr. Romantic” as well as “Squid Game 2” as the mother of Hwang Jun Ho (Wi Ha Joon).
