Spoilers
In past episodes, every encounter between Ji Yun, the CEO of Peoplez—ranked No. 2 in the headhunting industry—and Hye Jin (Park Bo Kyung), the CEO of Career Way, the No. 1 firm, has turned into a high-stakes showdown. Once a superior and a junior at the same company, they now find themselves in a relentless struggle for dominance.
Their falling out traces back to a pivotal incident five years ago. At the time, Career Way suffered massive losses due to a fraudulent company, and Ji Yun, having received a tip that an insider was involved, pushed for an internal investigation. However, the then-CEO took full responsibility and tragically ended their own life.
In the aftermath, Ji Yun became the target of harsh backlash, blamed for driving her mentor to such an extreme decision. Even now, five years later, Hye Jin continues to throw this incident in Ji Yun’s face. Yet Ji Yun’s cryptic retort—“Do you really think I knew nothing?”—suggests that the full truth behind that fateful event has yet to come to light.
Determined to see Peoplez crumble, Hye Jin stops at nothing to sabotage Ji Yun’s company. She orchestrated the sudden transfer of a key figure to China, causing misunderstandings that tarnished Ji Yun’s reputation as a headhunter. She also intercepted candidates Peoplez had lined up for major clients, leading to devastating losses. Adding fuel to the fire, Jeong Nam (Jo Han Joon), a former Peoplez employee fired by Ji Yun, is now aiding Hye Jin in her mission to destroy the company.
Now, the two rivals are set to clash in a competitive bid to recruit a new CEO for Next, the nation’s No. 1 portal site, which is seeking a new leader to restore its wavering reputation.
Ji Yun places her bet on a crisis management expert with strong media-handling skills, aiming to showcase Peoplez’s industry expertise. Meanwhile, despite her outward claims of fair competition, Hye Jin secretly meets with Next’s executives, presenting them with an early candidate shortlist and persuading them to rally votes in her favor.
As the decisive D-day arrives, newly released stills show a self-assured Hye Jin, seemingly confident in her premeditated moves. However, Ji Yun—who has propelled Peoplez to the No. 2 position within just five years—is not one to be underestimated. Her poised and composed presentation raises anticipation for the final outcome.
“Love Scout” airs every Friday at 10 p.m. KST and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. KST.
