Park Hyung Sik Talks About His Role In “Buried Hearts” And What Drew Him To The Drama

Park Hyung Sik has shared his thoughts on his upcoming drama “Buried Hearts”!

“Buried Hearts” tells the story of a man who manages to hack a political slush fund account worth 2 trillion won (approximately $1.4 billion) and the man who kills him without knowing he’s been hacked—thus accidentally losing the entire 2 trillion won.

Park Hyung Sik takes center stage as Seo Dong Joo, leading the drama with a commanding presence. He delivers a powerful performance, pushing himself to emotional and physical extremes in what is undoubtedly a demanding role.

In an interview, Park Hyung Sik revealed why he chose the drama and what he finds most compelling about Seo Dong Joo.

“Each character’s pursuit of their own goals and desires keeps the story intriguing,” he said. “At the same time, many aspects feel realistic, making me reflect on how closely it mirrors real life. There were moments that made me reflect on myself, and it was both intense and thought-provoking.” He added, “More than anything, I was excited for the chance to show a new side of myself that I haven’t revealed before.”

Describing his character, he explained, “Seo Dong Joo has had a difficult journey, different from most children. Because of that, he’s developed a strong mindset that helps him overcome any challenge. At the same time, he’s a warmhearted person who knows how to share genuine love. He always appears confident, but that confidence sometimes leads to failure and betrayal. To me, he feels like a character who truly reflects real life.”

He continued, “I thought Seo Dong Joo is incredible in how he overcomes numerous adversities and hardships—sometimes with intelligence, sometimes with struggle—but he never gives up.”

On his transformation for the role, Park Hyung Sik shared, “Through Seo Dong Joo, I think viewers will see a completely different side of me. He’s unlike any character I’ve played before, so for those eager to see a new side from me, this will be an especially exciting drama.”
