Kim Dae Myung Brings Warmth As Compassionate Lawyer In The Cold World Of M&A In "The Art Of Negotiation"

Kim Dae Myung has offered deeper insight into his character in the upcoming drama “The Art of Negotiation”!

“The Art of Negotiation” follows the story of Yoon Joo No (Lee Je Hoon), an M&A expert who is known as a legendary negotiator, as he leads his team through high-stakes corporate challenges.

Kim Dae Myung takes on the role of Oh Soon Young, a negotiation specialist lawyer in Sanin Group’s M&A team. Known for his deep empathy and extensive connections, Oh Soon Young acts as the emotional anchor in a team driven by business interests and high-pressure deals.

Describing his character, Kim Dae Myung shared, “He’s the kind of person who watches over his teammates from a step behind, lightening the mood with humor and offering support when needed. But when it comes to his work, he’s as strong as anyone.” He added, “He’s someone I personally aspire to be like. I built this character with the hope that everyone has a friend like Soon Young in their lives.”

To bring authenticity to his portrayal, Kim Dae Myung revealed that he incorporated elements from his own wardrobe and personal items, collaborating closely with the director to shape Oh Soon Young’s look. “I also made a conscious effort to listen more to my co-stars and their lines so that my character would feel like he’s truly part of someone’s everyday life,” he revealed.

This dedication shines through in newly released stills, where Oh Soon Young is seen with a warm smile, casually holding a paper cup—perfectly embodying the easygoing yet dependable presence he brings to the M&A team.

Kim Dae Myung also expressed his admiration for director Ahn Pan Seok: “I’ve always wanted to work with Director Ahn Pan Seok, whom I’ve always respected. This was my first time working with him, and it was truly a memorable experience as I was able to learn so much. He gives actors the space to imagine and shape their characters, allowing us to deeply explore our roles and the story.”
