Seo Kang Jun Talks About His Character In “Undercover High School,” How He Prepared For The Role, And More

Seo Kang Jun, the male lead of MBC’s upcoming drama “Undercover High School,” has shared his thoughts on his new project!

“Undercover High School” is a comedy action drama that follows Jeong Hae Seong (Seo Kang Jun), a National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent who goes undercover as a high school student to track down Emperor Gojong’s missing gold. Jeong Hae Seong is a character who remains calm and reserved at all times, while being incredibly meticulous and strategic, much like an ace NIS agent.

Ahead of the drama’s premiere, Seo Kang Jun discussed why he chose this project, saying, “I find it appealing because it blends various genres, such as comedy, action, human drama, and crime. I thought it was a great project because behind the lighthearted comedy, there’s a unique message in the story.”

As for the efforts he put into portraying his character, he shared, “To effectively portray the action scenes as an NIS agent, I trained at an action school. Additionally, I wanted to focus more on the character of Hae Seong, so I spent a lot of time contemplating what kind of person he is.”

He went on to explain, “Jeong Hae Seong tends to handle his pain on his own rather than showing it to others. Although he appears to live by the rules, he is actually a free spirit. Hae Seong has always been alone and is used to being by himself, but as he meets fellow students at school, he gradually learns what it means to feel ‘together’ with others.”

In his final remarks, the actor said, “After my military discharge, I’m returning with a new project for the first time in a while. I’m more excited than nervous. ‘Undercover High School’ is something you can enjoy in a lighthearted way, but within all that fun, there’s also emotional depth and impact. Please look forward to it.”
