Son Ye Jin In Talks To Star In New Thriller Drama By "Mask Girl" Director

Son Ye Jin may be joining the upcoming drama “Variety” (literal title)!

On February 11, it was reported that Son Ye Jin has received an offer to star in the upcoming drama “Variety” and is currently reviewing the offer.

In response to the report, her representative cautiously stated, “It is true that she received an offer, but she is still reviewing the script.”

A representative from CJ ENM, the drama’s production company, also shared, “We did offer the role to Son Ye Jin, but as the project is still in its early stages, nothing has been finalized yet. Details such as the broadcast schedule and other casting decisions have not been determined.”

“Variety” is a new thriller drama set in the idol industry and is the latest project by director Kim Yong Hoon, known for the hit Netflix series “Mask Girl.”

The drama’s production team is reportedly in the midst of casting both active and former idols for key roles, with the story centered around an idol group that will be created specifically for the drama. Notably, “Squid Game 2” star and former IZ*ONE member Jo Yu Ri is also in talks for a lead role.

Son Ye Jin has reportedly been offered the role of a charismatic, sharp-witted, and outspoken character—one that has drawn comparisons to former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin.

Meanwhile, Son Ye Jin is currently gearing up for the filming of Netflix’s upcoming series “Scandal” (working title), where she will star alongside Ji Chang Wook. She has also recently completed filming Park Chan Wook’s highly anticipated movie “No Other Choice,” in which she stars opposite Lee Byung Hun.
