Lee Sun Bin And Kang Tae Oh Break Down Their Characters’ Love-Hate Dynamic In 'The Potato Lab'

tvN’s new weekend drama “The Potato Lab” has dropped new stills ahead of the premiere!

“The Potato Lab” is a new romantic comedy drama set in a rural potato research institute. The story follows Kim Mi Kyung (Lee Sun Bin), a researcher whose life revolves entirely around potatoes, and So Baek Ho (Kang Tae Oh), a cold and principled corporate director. When So Baek Ho unexpectedly enters Kim Mi Kyung’s world, the two find themselves entangled in a whirlwind romance.

The newly released stills offer a glimpse into their ever-evolving dynamic. In the set of stills below, Mi Kyung crosses her arms and looks at Baek Ho with clear disapproval, while Baek Ho, seemingly annoyed, turns away, hinting at the tension between them.

Their reunion in the potato field adds to the intrigue. While Mi Kyung is fully dressed in work clothes, Baek Ho appears in a perfectly tailored suit. When she impatiently holds out a pair of boots, he simply closes his eyes and leisurely sips his coffee, unfazed. The stark contrast between them brings a comedic touch to the scene.

Another photo further builds excitement, showing Mi Kyung and Baek Ho closer than before, as if they have finally found common ground. Mi Kyung grips Baek Ho’s cheek while staring intently at something, and he does not resist. With Baek Ho wearing a headlamp, they both focus on the same point, creating a lighthearted moment.

In the drama, Mi Kyung experiences a whirlwind of emotions, largely due to Baek Ho, who fascinates her just as much as her potato research. Lee Sun Bin described their relationship as “a textbook case of opposites attracting,” explaining, “Despite their constant bickering, Mi Kyung and Baek Ho’s push-and-pull dynamic has a sweet and spicy charm that keeps drawing them together.”

Kang Tae Oh added, “Mi Kyung and Baek Ho are different in so many ways. But as their contrasting personalities spark various episodes, viewers will see how they slowly grow closer,” building anticipation for their evolving relationship.

Beyond their on-screen chemistry, Lee Sun Bin and Kang Tae Oh’s real-life synergy is another major highlight. Lee Sun Bin shared, “Filming with Kang Tae Oh was incredibly fun and full of energy. He is thoughtful and respectful, which made working together so easy. I think we captured Mi Kyung and Baek Ho’s romance and comedy really well.”

Kang Tae Oh echoed her sentiments, saying, “Lee Sun Bin’s unique energy helped us bond quickly. I believe our chemistry comes through on screen. Because we supported and looked out for each other, we were able to create well-crafted scenes,” emphasizing their strong teamwork.

“The Potato Lab” is set to premiere on March 1 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
