3 Reasons To Look Forward To Tonight's Premiere Of 'The Witch'

GOT7’s Jinyoung and Roh Jeong Eui’s new drama “The Witch” kicks off tonight!

Based on “Moving” author Kang Full’s webtoon of the same name, “The Witch” is a mystery romance about a woman who distances herself from the world due to tragedy and a man who refuses to give up on her.

With the drama’s first episode airing tonight, here are three reasons to get excited for its highly-anticipated premiere:

1. An unrequited love at age 19

During her high school days, Park Mi Jeong (played by Roh Jeong Eui) is always alone. After many strange incidents and deaths occur around her, she is labeled a “witch” and plagued by rumors that everyone who falls in love with her dies. As a result, at the age of 19 (by Korean reckoning), Mi Jeong winds up leaving her school and village behind on a snowy day.

Fellow student Lee Dong Jin (played by Jinyoung), who harbors an unrequited love for Mi Jeong, watches her sadly from a distance but can’t muster the courage to approach her. In the end, Mi Jeong leaves school before Dong Jin ever manages to strike up a conversation with her.

2. A fateful reunion at age 29

10 years after Mi Jeong leaves town, Dong Jin unexpectedly crosses paths with her again—and he firmly believes that their running into one another is destiny.

While Dong Jin has found success in his career as a big data specialist, Mi Jeong is struggling to get by in her lonely and weary life. Dong Jin had always dreamed of meeting Mi Jeong again so that he could look into the data of her mysterious “curse,” find the truth, and tell her definitively, “You are not a witch.” Now that he finally has the chance to make his dream come true, Dong Jin is determined to uncover the facts behind the pattern of death that follows Mi Jeong wherever she goes.

3. A mix of mystery and romance

In addition to the romance and heartache of reuniting with one’s first love, “The Witch” also delivers the unpredictable thrills of a mystery drama. Whenever someone falls in love with Mi Jeong or merely spends time with her, they wind up getting injured or dying. Not only does Dong Jin gather data and come up with hypotheses about this strange pattern, but he even risks his own life in order to investigate it.

“We hope viewers will focus on each episode and enjoy solving the mystery of the rule of death that Dong Jin discovers,” said the drama’s production team. “Dong Jin immediately recognizes Mi Jeong when he coincidentally runs into her for the first time in 10 years. Please tune in to the first episode to find out what kind of dazzlingly beautiful destiny lies in store for these two people.”

“The Witch” premieres on February 15 at 9:10 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki.
