"Motel California" Stars Say Goodbye + Share Regrets Ahead Of Tonight's Finale
The stars of MBC’s “Motel California” shared heartfelt farewells ahead of tonight’s series finale!
Based on Shim Yoon Seo’s 2019 novel “Home, Bitter Home,” “Motel California” is a romance drama about a woman named Ji Kang Hee (Lee Se Young), who was born and raised in a rural motel called Motel California. After escaping her hometown, she returns home after 12 years and winds up reconnecting with her first love and childhood friend Cheon Yeon Soo (Na In Woo).
Ahead of the drama’s final broadcast, Lee Se Young remarked, “I still can’t believe [that the drama’s ending]. It feels strange.”
The actress went on to express regret that they weren’t able to capture everything from the original novel in the drama adaptation. “I still feel in my heart that, in the process of trying to tell the story from the original novel within just 12 episodes, we didn’t manage to show everything,” she shared.
Lee Se Young continued, “I’d like to sincerely thank the director, writer, and everyone in the cast and crew who worked together [on this drama], and I want to tell them that I was truly happy [during filming].”
Meanwhile, Na In Woo confessed, “This was the first time I filmed a project with such a family-like atmosphere on set, so this drama was truly meaningful for me. Thank you so much [to the viewers] for being together with us.”
Finally, he conveyed his deep fondness for the drama’s characters by adding, “Please root for the happiness of Yeon Soo and Kang Hee in the future as well.”
The final episode of “Motel California” will air on February 15 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
