"The Witch" Breaks Record For Highest Premiere Ratings Of Any Drama In Channel A History
Channel A’s “The Witch” is off to a record-breaking start!
Based on “Moving” author Kang Full’s webtoon of the same name, “The Witch” is a mystery romance about a woman who distances herself from the world due to tragedy (played by Roh Jeong Eui) and a man who refuses to give up on her (played by GOT7’s Jinyoung).
On February 15, “The Witch” made Channel A history by achieving the highest premiere ratings of any drama in the network’s history. According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode of “The Witch” set a new record by scoring an average nationwide rating of 2.4 percent.
Meanwhile, MBC’s “Motel California” enjoyed a significant increase in viewership for its final episode. The drama’s series finale scored an average nationwide rating of 5.9 percent, marking an impressive 2.2 jump from the night prior—and falling just short of its all-time high of 6.0 percent.
KBS 2TV’s new drama “For Eagle Brothers” earned its highest ratings yet for a Saturday (when its ratings have typically been lower compared to Sundays). The fifth episode of the show scored an average nationwide rating of 16.6 percent, making it the most-watched program of any kind to air that day.
Finally, tvN’s “When the Stars Gossip” kicked off the final two weeks of its run on an average nationwide rating of 1.9 percent.
Congratulations to the cast and crew of “The Witch” on their new record!
