Kim Shin Young Apologizes For Her Comments About PLAVE

Kim Shin Young has apologized for her recent remarks about the virtual idol group PLAVE.

During the February 16 radio broadcast of MBC FM4U’s “Noon Song of Hope with Kim Shin Young,” DJ Kim Shin Young mentioned the virtual group PLAVE, saying, “To be completely honest, they can’t appear on our show. I think I’d feel a serious sense of disillusionment.” Her comments sparked backlash, leading to a flood of complaints on the “Noon Song of Hope” message board, with some people demanding her resignation as the DJ.

The following day, on February 17, Kim Shin Young officially apologized on the radio, saying, “Yesterday on ‘Noon Song of Hope,’ I made comments about PLAVE, but they were remarks that failed to understand the current cultural trends.”

She expressed her regret, saying, “PLAVE has been working hard in their activities, but I was not only ignorant but also rude. PLAVE fans should have been able to enjoy a good weekend, but I deeply feel the weight and responsibility of my words. I sincerely bow my head in apology once again. I will make sure to study and learn more to ensure this doesn’t happen again in the future.”

She added, “I did consider posting an apology on my social media account, but since the remarks were made on this radio show, I felt it was right to apologize here in my own voice.”

On that day, Kim Shin Young selected PLAVE’s song “Wait for you” as the opening track for “Noon Song of Hope.”
