Based on a popular webtoon, “Friendly Rivalry” is a mystery thriller set at Chaehwa Girls’ High School, an elite institution for the top 1 percent in South Korea, where cutthroat academic competition takes place between the students. Chung Su Bin stars as Woo Seul Gi, a transfer student who becomes entangled in her classmates’ hidden ambitions—and the secret behind the mysterious death of her father, a former college entrance exam question setter.

Previously, Jae Yi (Hyeri) was shocked to learn that her missing older sister Yoo Jae Na (Chu Ye Jin) is connected to Seul Gi’s father Woo Do Hyuk (Lee Won Jae). Just as she begins to process the revelation, Jae Na, who was presumed missing, suddenly appears before her, raising even more questions.
Episode 9 uncovers Jae Na’s hidden story, revealing her connection to Do Hyuk and the reason behind her disappearance.
Meanwhile, tension peaked at the end of episode 8 when Kim Beom Soo (Kim Sang Ji) overdosed on drugs and stabbed Seul Gi. As viewers worry about her condition, newly released stills show Seul Gi lying on an operating table at the hospital owned by Jae Yi’s father Yoo Tae Jun (Kim Tae Hoon).
Adding to the intrigue, Jae Yi is seen inside the operating room during Seul Gi’s surgery, leaving viewers wondering why she is there and whether Seul Gi will wake up safely.
“Friendly Rivalry” releases new episodes every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 12 a.m. KST.
